Register a Partnership or Trade Name
A trade name is the designation under which a person transacts business, other than one’s legal name (personal name) or a registered corporate name, general or limited partnership name, limited liability company name or limited liability partnership name. A trade name is also known as a fictitious name or DBA (doing business as).
You must register partnerships and trade names with the clerk of the Circuit Court. A small fee is required. For information contact:

Register a Corporation
All corporations conducting business in Virginia must be registered with the State Corporation Commission.
